Oddly enough, I don't believe anyone has started this thread yet and we already have a few eliminations already. 3 teams qualify as hosts: USA, Mexico, Canada, and 208 teams are battling it out for qualification. Although, I'm not sure what to make of Russia atm but I think they are suspended and not yet completely eliminated. We had our first official eliminations today from AFC then I guess: 211. Guam 210. Chinese Taipei is the first team eliminated from a group stage, and the first team eliminated from Round 2 within their confederation. As an American, I am used to a round referring to when all teams play at least once and some are eliminated. In soccer, "round" is sometimes used to refer to when every team plays one game within a group, such as the Premier League's last games being called Round 38. For that situation, I use the word "matchday." Bangladesh needs to make up 6 points and 18 goal differential to catch Palestine, but a goal differential tiebreaker can never be clinched in advance. Correcting what I typed about Group G that Pakistan survive with a draw, Tajikistan vs. Saudi Arabia is 0-0 at halftime, and if Tajikistan wins, Pakistan will be eliminated with a draw.
