9th nation to win a World Cup in 2026 if you think that might happen

If it is, I think it's between Portugal or Netherlands.Same thoughts here, I could see Portugal (They are actually my overall bet) or Netherlands winning it from Europe, maybe Colombia from South America or Senegal/Morocco from Africa? But I cannot see any other nation being anywhere close to winning it for the first time in 2026

There won’t be a first time winner this year.

Do You Believe? Everything Can Happen on Home Soil | FIFA World Cup 2026™That was actually very well done. I just don’t see it happening with this USA squad. But they probably have a better chance than the 1980 Olympic hockey team had to win the gold medal.

If there's a first time winner I hope it will be the home team in Mexico or USA. (Like 1930 Uruguay 1934 Italy 1966 England 1978 Argentina 1998 France) Of course Netherlands or Portugal could win. But I feel the latter two seem likely but in the end are unlikely.

But I cannot see any other nation being anywhere close to winning it for the first time in 2026I could see others getting "close". We just had 2 reach the semis in the last WC, at least one of which nobody predicted, and they didn't even benefit from a soft quadrant of the bracket. But I put "close" in quotes because there's a huge difference b/w reaching semis and actually being winner #9, imo. For winning, yeh, only Holland or Portugal (as usual), but even those feel like a stretch.

Do You Believe? Everything Can Happen on Home Soil | FIFA World Cup 2026™Interesting, the same song, "The impossible Dream", was used last year for PSG ahead of the Champions League final against Inter: That version was interpreted by Jacques Brel in French, but it's the same song with almost the same lyrics: Rêver, un impossible rêve Brûler, d'une possible fièvre Atteindre, l'inaccessible étoile Tel est ma quête Suivre l'étoile Peu m'importe mes chances Peu m'importe le temps Pour atteindre l'inaccessible étoile English translation: To dream, the impossible dream To burn, with a possible fever To reach the unreachable star This is my quest To follow the star No matter how hopeless No matter how far To reach the unreachable star
